Weir Asks Regina MPs to Co-Host Town Hall on Electoral Reform

June 28th, 2016

Regina–Lewvan MP Erin Weir is inviting Regina–Qu’Appelle MP Andrew Scheer and Regina–Wascana MP Ralph Goodale to co-host a town hall meeting on electoral reform. So far, neither has responded to the letter he e-mailed them last week.

“Regina is one of the few Canadian cities to have elected MPs from all three major parties,” wrote Weir. “Our city’s political diversity presents a great opportunity to hold a multi-party town hall on whether and how to improve our voting system.”

The Minister for Democratic Reform has asked MPs to hold town hall meetings to consult constituents on changes to Canada’s electoral system. Weir is suggesting a Regina-wide town hall on September 10 or 11, but is open to Scheer and Goodale proposing alternative dates.

“I look forward to hearing back from my fellow Regina MPs,” said Weir. “By reaching across party lines to everyone in our city, we can foster a more complete and better informed discussion.”
